Phonemes of English Language
ইংরেজি ভাষায় সর্বমোট 44 টি sound বা phoneme রয়েছে।
এদের মধ্যে 20 টি vowel sounds এবং 24 টি consonant sounds।
20 টি vowel sounds এর মধ্যে আবার 12 টি Monophthongs (একক স্বরধ্বনি) এবং 8 টি Dipthongs (দৈত স্বরধ্বনি)।

Contractions in English
Contractions
কোন word এর এক বা একাধিক letter বাদ দিয়ে দুটি word কে যুক্ত করাকেই Contraction বলা হয়। বাদ যাওয়া letter এর পরিবর্তে সেখানে (’) চিহ্ন বসে।
সাধারনত informal English এবং কথোপকথনে Contraction বহুলভাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Reductions
Informal English কথোপকথনে reductions বহুলভাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়ে থাকে। তাই সঠিক ভাবে native speaker দের কথা বুঝার জন্য এবং fluent English বলার জন্য তা জানা অত্যন্ত জরুরী।
